Safety Is No Accident!

Neighborhood Crime Watch Program

Dean's Reserve is an active Crime Watch Neighborhood.

What does this mean?
Picture

  1. There was at least 40% or more residents of Dean's Reserve who expressed interest and subsequently turned out for a meeting with the Orange County Sheriff's Office to begin making our residents proactive and safer-minded.
  2. There are 9 Block Captains who work with the Crime Watch Coordinator to communicate criminal or suspicious activity that is reported to them, which is in turn quickly shared with residents through the system so everyone can be vigilant and watchful.
  3. REMEMBER: if you are faced with an emergency, call 911. The Neighborhood Watch program is designed to share information between residents regarding criminal or suspicious activity, but does not serve in any law enforcement capacity.
  4. If you are new to the neighborhood and have not yet been introduced to your Block Captain, feel free to contact the HOA for more information or to make a request to be contacted.

Sheriff Patrol

Dean's Reserve also contracts an off-duty Orange County Sheriff to patrol the neighborhood at varying times throughout the week. We hope you have an opportunity to introduce yourself if you see him!

Crime Tip "Odds 'n Ends"

Home/Vehicle Safety

Take proactive steps to prevent your home and/or vehicles from being an attractive target for criminals. Remember to secure your vehicle and valuables. Leaving money, change, cell phones, computers, or other valuables in your vehicle, especially out in the open (visible sight), may invite a burglar to return if they have easy access the first time. For your home, make sure you have good deadbolt locks on all exterior doors; never hide a key outside your home; install locks on all windows; keep your garage door closed and locked when not in use and always lock your doors and windows... do not provide the burglar an opportunity. For the exterior of your home, make sure your street address is visible, day and night; illuminate the exterior of your home to eliminate dark hiding spots; keep shrubs and trees trimmed away from doors and windows; and keep ladders, tools, and bicycles put away, as they are an invitation to the burglar/thief.

Home Fire Safety

Do your research for basic fire safety tips and tips like making an escape plan from the home and designating a meeting location once outside. Do research on safety tips to review with your loved ones. Learn about the do's and don'ts of fires... what children need to know... what seniors need to know... what you need to know...
